Erin is very honest and reflective, sometimes painfully so, but usually joyfully so. This is her spiritual autobiography, in many ways, and it reveals the tremendous amount of soul-work she’s done with God and vice versa over the years.

By 39, Erin Lovejoy had stopped matching her first name with suitors’ last names. That’s why she was just as surprised as everyone else when what started during Covid as a short quarantine in a tiny farming town ended in a sudden and unexpected wedding. Her own.
This book is about how God spent years transforming Erin through unwanted singleness and failed relationships. Meanwhile, little did she realize, God was simultaneously shaping her future husband also.

Erin Salmans was single until 2020 when she got married at age 39. She and her husband had three children in three years and are beginning to catch a glimpse of God’s purposes behind their years of trials and waiting. Now, they enjoy encouraging and equipping others with the practical and spiritual insights they’ve gained through both singleness and marriage.

God had a plan throughout, even when Erin pushed against it or didn’t understand it. So encouraging.
I loved how Erin dug deep to find real answers for her real struggles. There was never a hint of the typical platitudes. Her story is imperfect and raw―probably why I loved it so much—and she tells it in an engaging, and at times even hilarious, way.
There are many pearls of wisdom in it. It is a valuable and inspiring story for anyone who struggles with understanding and trusting God.
I felt both inspired and challenged by what I read and would like to try some of the exercises that Erin shared. There is so much wisdom and insight in every page.
I read this book in two sittings. I would have finished it in one, but it was past my bedtime. I loved it! I think the themes of healing and God’s miraculous provision could apply to all Christians, not just singles.
I usually drag through books for some reason, but this one held my interest and was a very enjoyable, yet meaningful, read. I didn’t want to put it down! I was able to get immersed in the story and feel something, and even laugh out loud a few times. It is so relatable and raw and honest but not in a way that is overboard. I don’t think there are many books like this out there.
